Day 13; 16032013, Saturday.

* Today, we are going on a trip to Red Cliff a.k.a 赤壁!

Red Cliff is where the decisive battle which caused the end of the Han Dynasty was held. Liu Bei and Sun Quan combined their forces and fought off Cao Cao. The detailed account of the battle comes from The Romance of the Three Kingdoms; one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature [This information is from Wikipedia; Though, I paraphrased some of it].
Thus, all of us gathered outside of our hostel building at around 0730. The bus ride to Red Cliff takes about 2 and a half hour. I spend the entire bus trip dozing off because I was very tired due to the lack of sleep the night before. Instead of reaching our destination within 2 and a half hour, we took about 3 hours to reach because midway the bus driver got lost and drove to another place! Luckily, the driver manage to correct his route and drove us safely to the correct destination!
After sitting in the bus for so long, I just realize that Singapore is very small! Never in my entire life have I sat in a Singapore Bus for more than 2 hours! 3 hour worth of bus ride is like from Singapore to Malaysia maybe? Being in China makes me realize just how seriously small Singapore is!
Upon alighting from our coach, all of us were immediately hit by the strong winds and mild drizzling of the weather in Red Cliff City (This sounds weird but it is true).

The weather in Red Cliff is much colder than Wuchang. In spite of the cold weather, what really mesmerize me was the ancient structure like entrance of the Red Cliff! Magnificent! Isn’t it?
The buildings there are all named to complement the settings in ancient China! It feels as though you went back in the past! After alighting and the purchase of the tickets, all of us were led to the hotel that we will stay for the night! My first impression of the hotel is like Wow. Just Wow. It looks quite grand from the outside! Upon stepping into the hotel, the settings of the hotel captivated me. You can hardly see this kind of building structures and furnishes in any places in Singapore! After receiving our hotel room keys, we of us dashed up to our rooms! This is also where we saw the first miracle after 13 days in Wuhan! We saw lifts. HOW MANY DAYS HAS IT BEEN SINCE WE SAW LIFTS? For me, it was 13 days ago at Changi Airport. Good lord. Why are there so many stairs in Wuhan!
That aside, the hotel room looks splendid! It is spacious and clean!
Shots of the hotel and the hotel room!

Creepy Mona Lisa painting in the room!

After placing our baggage at the hotel, we head over to the entrance of Red Cliff! All of us entered and was mesmerized by the ancient structures of the buildings! Take a look at the surrounding!
All of us are walking towards our destination for lunch. The road to our venue to so long! As many of us are taking our own sweet time, we took around 1 hour to reach our destination! These are the shots I have taken along the way!

Our lunch venue is located beside this place whereby horses will perform at specified show times.

Thus, I was greeted by the smell of… Horse dung(?) the moment I stepped into the vicinity of the performance area.
Our lunch for the day!

Our lunch must have been the best meal yet as compared to our meals at Wudang mountain! There are more dishes of meat and the dishes here taste much better than the ones we had are Wudang!

After our sumptuous meal, the tour guide led us to the exhibition hall of the different prominent figures in the battle of Three Kingdoms!

A paranoma view of the entire picture of the battle of Red Cliff!

From there, I have more insights on the different characters and what they did during the period of the Three Kingdoms. This reminds me.. Singapore does not have magnificent history! All the different histories of China never failed to amaze me. I am always awed and intrigued by The Romance of the Three Kingdoms! I really appreciate all this exhibitions and sight viewing which gave me more insights on the history of the Three Kingdoms!

After the tour around the exhibition hall, we went to see the gigantic statue of 周瑜 (Zhou Yu).

Zhou Yu joined forces together with 刘备 (Liu Bei) and they defeated Cao Cao at Red Cliff! However, in spite of his great victory over Cao Cao, he died at an young age at 36 years old.

The tour guide then brought us down to the base of the Red Cliff!
This is my first time going to the base of a cliff! I have never been to any cliff before so I was taken aback by the view of the base of the cliff! You can hardly see any view like this in Singapore! The closest you can get to in Singapore is like East Coast or West Coast park! However, this two parks do not have any cliff like features for us to enjoy! So yeah. Enjoy these views!

Final Shots of Red Cliff!

Next, we visited the 拜风合 (I have no idea what does it stands for in English). This place is focusing more on 诸葛亮 (Zhu Ge Liang).

We then headed back to our hotel as we have finished the tour of the day!

After exiting Red Cliff, Karize and I went to the nearby souvenir shop to purchase some gifts for our family or friends. I brought some Osmanthus biscuits and tea for my family and friends! Hope they like it! We went back to the hotel to rest and went for dinner around 1 hour later.

We took a coach to our destination! I think it was kind of weird to take a coach just to get to our dinner destination even though it was near vicinity. But since the route towards the venue is very wet and slippery I guess it is definitely more convenient for us.
Guess where our dinner is held at? That’s right. The place where horses resides and perform or should I say our lunch venue! Our dinner!

Still as good as our lunch! Best meal I have ever had. Yet. Eating the dinner dishes makes me crave for Singapore's food again! It tastes similar to Singapore's food! Ah. 3 more weeks to go before I can taste the delicious Singapore local delicacies once again!

After dinner, some of us headed to a nearby supermarket to buy food for themselves! After purchasing their stuff, we went back to the hotel to rest. I went over to Hui Ting & Li Si’s room after showering and all 5 of us (Jodie, Pei Pei, Hui Ting, Li Si and I) watched some Hong Kong dramas! I almost fell asleep when watching because I was that tired!
Went back to my room to sleep at around 2330!
End!
